So I was hiking by myself in the middle of nowhere. I was out in the mountains, and I hadn't seen another person for at least 2 miles, and that person wasn't even on the same trail as me. I also realized that about a mile back I had lost cell phone reception, so I was totally alone. I was listening to music and hiking along up the mountain when I hear this hiss and some kind of rattle. I looked down and about two feet away from my foot sitting in the middle of the trail was a coiled rattlesnake with fangs bared. I don't think I have ever run so fast in my life!

hahaha this is all a very funny picture in my head. maybe you shouldn't go by yourself anymore.
Not funny and you're right I probably shouldn't hike by myself anymore.
so did you back away slowly and then run... or just turn and run? I dont know what I would have done. YIKES!
I hope you took this pic from somewhere on the web and didn't stop to take a picture before running :)
No, no I ran like a little girl. No stopping, no thinking, just running, all instinct. Oh and that is not an actual picture of the snake its from the internet, because i don't think that I stopped running for a quarter of a mile
Top 5 things I'm glad about in this post:
1- You're not dead
2- You didn't stop to take that photo
3 - You will never hike alone in snake infested waters, I mean trails, again
4- No one witnessed the "running like a girl" (who lived to tell about it)
5- You have the coolest blog post since LD and I were on the front page of a British tabloid
I think Ann's post says it all. I am glad you are alive! I wish I could have seen you run like a little girl. That would have been something that Mickayla and I would have enjoyed.
